No one knows why I take pictures of barges, but I do. We will see them along the river for a few more weeks and then the shipping season will end. The river does not freeze over solid near downtown but the locks become inoperable because of the ice. The shipping season ends in October. In mid-march or early April the first barges of next years shipping season will find their way to St. Paul.

Every now and then I escape, with my camera of course. Taylors Falls, is on the St. Croix River, on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin, about 45 miles North of St. Paul, MN

These rocks were carved by glaciers thousands of years ago, just so we can enjoy this lovely park.

In this picture there is a hint of Fall color, the best time to take pictures of this area is during the first week of October.

I am not sure how, but I think I will find a way to go back in October.

I found these flowers in the park, they are called cosmos. The color is unusual, which is why I took the picture. I was supposed to be taking pictures of a condo. In Minnesota we have maybe one more month of flowers blooming, maybe less. We have about 8 more weeks before real estate sales almost stop. The buyers are out looking, hoping to move before the holidays. Sellers who would like to put their homes on the market this year should do so no later than October. Now would be better.

The weekend is over and it is time to get back to work. I would have had a longer weekend if I had not let the person who undresses bugs, lead me into a huge vortex. A kind of alternate reality that is easy to get pulled into but difficult to get out of.

We even wash our dinosaurs. Picture taken in front of the Science Museum of Minnesota. The Dinosaurs are part of an art project in conjunction with the museums 100 year anniversary. The “Dinos”, 60 of them, were placed in public places around town.

This photo was taken through the windshield of my car. St. Paul, has a temperature range of about 140 degrees. This time of year we get beautiful weather. It gets down into the 50’s or 60’s at night and up into the lower 70’s to lower 80’s during the day. The sky is so blue because the humidity is low. The photo shows the Landmark Center, looking down Market Street near the St. Paul Hotel. In the far right near the horizon is the dome of the Cathedral.
