The docks and boat slips along the river don’t get much use this time of year but they are still fun to take pictures of. The river is quiet in this shot, mostly because there are no boats on the river. The shipping season will start in a few weeks, there is still ice on much of the river.

It was actually warm yesterday, it got up to 48, felt like 60 on my back porch. I saw a robin but it flew away before I could get a picture so you will just have to believe me. The sparrow in the picture was not as camera shy.
For those of us who live by the river one sign of spring is the sound of water from snow melt running into the river. I could hear it last night so I know that spring is coming soon.

Minnesota, you have to love it here. It snowed on Saturday, followed by a snow storm on Sunday. No Snow on Monday, but it Snowed on Tuesday. We had snow for most of the day today, and it will start agian this evening. I think tomorrows forecast includes snow. What else is there?

Remember when poinsettias just came in one color, red? Now they come in several colors and there are variations. The plant in the picture looks like someone spilled paint on it.

This photo was taken a few weeks ago. Here in St. Paul the days are getting short, so it isn’t always easy to get pictures in the day light hours. The bridge in the background is the Smith Avenue high bridge, and the stack behind it belongs to the power plant.

Just a picture. It is starting to look like November, and to feel like it too.

Most every town has a Pleasant Street. These maple trees are on Pleasant near Grand Avenue. They really are pleasant.

Seedum blooms in September. Readers may have noticed from my photos that the Bee’s in Minnesota are friendly and photogenic.

No one knows why I take pictures of barges, but I do. We will see them along the river for a few more weeks and then the shipping season will end. The river does not freeze over solid near downtown but the locks become inoperable because of the ice. The shipping season ends in October. In mid-march or early April the first barges of next years shipping season will find their way to St. Paul.
