If you live in Minnesota, in December, you are probably cold right now. The cold isn’t so bad. We kind of get used to it. But the days are very short in December, as I write this it is 7:00 AM and still dark out, the sun will not rise until 7:45. The sun will set at about 4:30. Seasonal affective disorder is fairly common here. One thing that helps is to go some place that is well lit and warm. I took a short two hour vacation from winter yesterday, and of course I had to take some pictures.

It snowed most of the day to day. While I was sitting in traffic the too cheerful radio announcer pointed out that it won’t be winter for another three weeks.
The picture was taken in Rice Park in downtown St. Paul on Saturday. I don’t think it matters if pictures of snow are taken in color or in black and white.

The first snow is the prettiest. We shoveled out this morning, and the roads are drivable. The picture is of the Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul. It looks great any season.

This photo was taken a few weeks ago. Here in St. Paul the days are getting short, so it isn’t always easy to get pictures in the day light hours. The bridge in the background is the Smith Avenue high bridge, and the stack behind it belongs to the power plant.

Located in front of the House of Hope church on Summit Avenue. There are angels every where in St. Paul.

The transit station in the picture is new and the sculpture lit up for the first time in September. I find it disturbing, or maybe I should say disquieting. I can sere it as I wait in traffic, the disks are lit up and they kind of spin as the colors change. Located on the corner of Kellogg Blvd. and Smith Avenue, check it out.

Sometimes the best pictures are in my own back yard. Most of the leaves are gone, but we have a hedge growing along the South side of our property. No one remembers what kind of a hedge it is, but we remember that it was raining the day we put it in, and that our neighbors helped us plant it. It is dense and thorny. We planted it becasue we thought it looked better than a fence. Have a great day and don’t miss the beauty in your own back yard.

This is just for fun. It does make a colorful photo. This is a great time to buy a home in St. Paul, the number of homes on the market has gone down slightly but there are still plenty to choose from, and prices are lower in the Fall and Winter then they are in the Spring. Most of these pictures were taken in the Crocus Hill neighborhood. For a look at prices follow the link.

Picture taken out the window of the St. Paul, central library. The building it self is amazing but so are the views from the windows. On one side there is a view of the Mississippi River and through this window is a view of Rice Park, and the Landmark Center. The central library is not only beautiful inside and out but becasue it is a library, a federal depositor library even, it has a lot of books in it. Reading a book is a bit different than reading a web site, but I won’t get into that.
